Melvin Loge - July 26, 2011

Melvin Loge, 91, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 30, at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church north of Murphy. Pastor Marshall Erickson will officiate. Burial will be in the Monroe Evangelical Free Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Melvin Lincoln Loge, son of Swen and Lisa (Fuglested) Loge, was born at Cooperstown, N.D. on Feb. 12, 1920.
He grew up on a farm in Cooperstown, N. D., where he graduated from high school. Following his graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge he returned home where he farmed for two years.
Mel was united in marriage to Pearl Palm on Aug. 2, 1941 at Fargo, N.D.
Mel graduated from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta. Mel then pastored churches in Alberta, Manitoba, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. Following his retirement he served in interim pastoral work in 12 Evangelical Free Churches.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, but what he loved most was preaching.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl; sons, Stephen (Yolanda) Loge of Steedman, Mo. and Daniel Loge of Omaha; daughters, Ruth Ann (Charles) Clow of Edina, Minn., Donna (Glenn) Dagman of San Jose, Calif. and Barbara (Paul) Forsman of Aurora; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and brother Kenneth Loge of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Becky Loge and Marilynn Goertzen and one child in infancy and brothers, Maynard, Truman and Spencer Loge.
