Ronald Meyer - July 10, 2011Ronald Meyer, 78, of Aurora, died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. F. Cole Fowler will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Ronald Dean Meyer, the son of Lorenz C. and Wilma (Hoyer) Meyer, was born in Fairmont, Minn. on May 20, 1933.
He grew up in Fairmont, Minn. Ronald attended grade school in Fairmont and high school in Welcome, Minn. He left school to help his dad farm until he went to work in a fertilizer plant.
In 1954, he married Bonnie Hinrichs and from that union; three children were born. In 1956, they moved to Silver Bay, Minn. where he worked maintenance at the Rocky Ore Taconite Company for 11-1/2 years. In 1968, he moved to Denver where he ran his own business.
Ronald worked at several beef plants, including Monfort where he met, Rosanne Maw. They were married on July 3, 1983. Ronald continued to work at beef plants until he retired. He worked at Ace Hardware at Aurora Mall until his health failed.
Ronald loved to fish and hunt. He belonged to the Pawnee Rod & Gun Club. He fished until his health failed in 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter, Brenda Lee Andrews.
Survivors include his wife, Rosanne of Aurora; three children, Rick (Joy) Meyer of Vero Beach, Fla., Julie (Bruce) Davis of Waterford, Wisc. and Mark Meyer of Missouri; three step-children, Duane Hoegren of Omaha, Wanda Wiles of Aurora, Colo. and Darin Hoegren of Omaha; seven grandchildren, Joshua Davis, Matt Davis, Adam (Kristen) Davis, Jamie Davis, Mark Meyer, Amy Meyer and Seth Meyer; five step-grandchildren, Katie Hoegren, Tanya Wantchow, Brandi Andrews, Hailey Hoegren and Cruz Hoegren; four great-grandchildren, Avin, Amarah, Alek and Charlotte; twostep-great grandchildren, Clay and Cole Wantchow; two brothers, Sylvan (Marion) Meyer of Winnebago, Minn. and Gary (Maxine) Meyer of Fin Layson, Minn.; sister, Arlene (Darold) Vanderford of Fairmont, Minn.; several nieces and nephews and mother-in-law, Eileen Maw of Aurora.
