Elvin Harley - June 28, 2011

Elvin Harley, age 90, of Aurora, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 9th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel, 1404 L Street, Aurora, Neb. Pastor Tim Harley will officiate. No visitation. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Elvin E. Harley, the son of Kasper and Lina (Brown) Harley, was born at Atkinson, Neb., on Feb. 26, 1921 and died in Aurora, Neb., on June 28, 2011, at the age of 90.
Elvin grew up in Atkinson where he attended school.
On Aug. 9, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dolores (Mohnsen) Bersee. They resided mostly in the Norfolk area where he was owner of the Norfolk City Bus Service. He retired to Grand Island in 1983. Elvin has resided at the Hamilton Manor since 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Art and Vernon Harley, sister Viola Garwood and three sons Ernie, Jason and Tom Harley.
Survivors include his sons, Tim (Donna) Harley of Timberville, Va., Carl Harley of Aurora and Paul Harley of Grand Island; daughters, Carolyn (Charles) Clark of Aurora and Verna (Edwin) Ferris of Norfolk; step-sons, Charles Bersee of Lincoln and Cortland (Susan) Bersee of Warrenton, Va.; sister, Hilda Snyder of Arnold, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
