Cindy Ross - June 30, 2011

Cindy Ross, age 65, of Aurora, died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2nd at the Evangelical Free Church in Aurora. The Rev. Mike Neely will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton Community Foundation Scholarship Fund in Cindy’s name. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Lucinda ‘Cindy’ Rae Ross, the daughter of Dick and Iryl (Tomasek) Nelson, was born in Lexington, Neb., on Aug. 8, 1945 and died in Grand Island, Neb., on June 30, 2011, at the age of 65.
Cindy’s biological father, Lyonel Eich, was killed in action during WWII. The family lived in Lexington until Cindy was in 5th grade and at that time the family moved to Aurora. Cindy graduated from Aurora High School in 1963.
Cindy married Valta Ross on Oct. 7, 1983. She was very artistic, enjoyed doing crafts, held Bible studies in their home and was active in the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Valta of Aurora; five children, Kipton Jensen, Kealei Castle and Dick (D.J.) Jensen all of Atlanta, Ga., Ryan Ross of Sioux City, Iowa and Valerie Bollard of Redmond, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two brothers, Alan Nelson of LaVista and Russ Nelson of Woodbury, Minn.
