Arlene DeMaranville - June 04, 2011

Arlene DeMaranville, 86, of Aurora, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Mary Scott will officiate. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Arlene Nora DeMaranville, daughter of Herman and Elnora (Reichart) Ross, was born at Stockham on Dec. 29, 1924.
Arlene graduated from Stockham High School in 1942. She then moved to Aurora and worked as a telephone operator.
Arlene married Eugene ‘Gene’ DeMaranville on April 20, 1945 in Stockham at her parents’ home. They lived in Aurora their entire married life. Gene and Arlene co-owned the local Brandeis Store for 26 years. She helped Gene with his many lock smithing jobs. Gene died on Nov. 14, 1999. Arlene then worked part-time at Aurora High School for 10 years retiring in 2009.
She enjoyed her rose garden, traveling and being with family. She belonged to the Saddle Club, Platte Duetsche and the Liederkranz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, David DeMaranville; sister, Maxine Dunham; and brother, Kenneth Ross.
Survivors include her two sons, Rod of Sturgeon Bay, Wisc. and Dick (Karen) of Lake Wylie, S.C.; daughter, Barb (Jerry) Bohnart of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Gene (Betty) Ross of Georgia and sister-in-law, Lola Ross of Seward.
