Freeman Bottorf - March 29, 2011

Freeman “Tunny” E. Bottorf, 85, of Grand Island died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Village of Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Apfel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Village of Grand Island.
Freeman was born on July 5, 1925, in Stockham, to Freeman and Blanche (Turner) Bottorf. He grew up in Aurora and also received his education in Aurora. He served in the United States Army.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Korn on June 24, 1944 in Smith Center, Kan. They farmed in Aurora until his retirement and then moved to Grand Island. He loved his life as a farmer. He was a great farmer and great outdoorsman. Shirley and Freeman’s home was the place for all family to gather. His greatest love was all of his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; son, Ron (Pauline) Bottorf; daughters, Sandra (Richard) Erlenbusch, Becky (Wes) Paulson and Tammie Vanis; sisters, Delpha Miller and Evelyn Estill; daughter-in-law, Judy Bottorf; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Lonnie, David and Wendell Bottorf; five siblings; and one grandchild, Jason Erlenbusch.
