Loretta Schlecht - March 16, 2011

Loretta Lucile Benne Schlecht, 93, of Mobile, Ala., formerly of Stanton, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, in Mobile where she lived since January 2005.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton with Rev. Timothy Booth officiating. Burial will be in the Stanton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until service time at the church.
Services also were held in Mobile, Ala. on Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Schlecht was born March 21, 1917, in Stanton County, as the only child to Minnie Marie Augusta Schultze and Victor Albert Benne. She was educated in public and parochial schools in Stanton and graduated from Stanton High School.
She married the Rev. Willard Ernest William Schlecht on Oct. 12, 1937. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, and graciously served as a minister’s wife while her husband pastored churches in Alamo and San Antonio, Texas and Baton Rouge, La. over 39 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband in December 1976; two daughters, Judith Schlecht Klute and Margaret Schlecht Palmer; grandsons, Todd Fredrick Klute and David William Schlecht, Jr.; and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors of the immediate family include her children, Mary Schlecht (Dwayne) Orth of Brule, Anita Schlecht (Edgar) Wall of Hampton, Paul (Maria) Schlecht of Nashville, Tenn., Joyce Schlecht (Barry) Langley of Mobile, Ala. and David (Joyce) Schlecht of Newkirk, Okla.; son-in law Fredrick Klute of Atlantic, Iowa; grandchildren, Alan Dicke, Loretta Dicke (Randy) Haskett and James (Janette) Dicke all of Ft. Collins, Colo., Richard (Traci) Dicke of Longmont, Colo., Chad (Danelle) Klute of Hampton, Jennifer Klute Cambron of York, Jessica Klute Lambson of Omaha, Neb., John (Beatrice) Palmer of Aylette, Va., Michael (Susan) Palmer of Hampton, Va., Debra Wall (Gary) Shoup and Jeffrey (Mychelle) Wall all of Hampton, Melissa Schlecht (James) Sheorn of Brentwood, Tenn., Christopher Schlecht of Nashville, Tenn., Nicole Schlecht (Sean) Cooper of Lexington, Tenn., Eric (Allison) Langley of Birmingham, Ala., Sarah Benne Langley of Mobile, Ala., Laura Schlecht of Houston, Texas, Claire Schlecht Sands of San Francisco, Richard Schlecht of Tampa, Fla., and Jacob Schlecht of Baton Rouge, La. She is also survived by 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson and other relatives and friends.
