Marcella Burch - March 15, 2011

Marcella I. Dettman Burch, 82, of Central City, died at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand island on Tuesday, March 15, 2011.
Memorial services are Thursday, March 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City with Father Rod Kneifl officiating. Solt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltfh.com.
Marcella Irene was born on Feb. 3, 1929, near Central City to Howard M. and Margarete A. (Franssen) Weeks. She grew up in Central City and attended from Central City High School.
On June 30, 1948, Marcella married Lyle Dettman. To this union were born seven children. Marcella worked at Duke’s Rest Manor and the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island.
On Oct. 27, 1975, she was married to Milo Burch. They lived in South Dakota where they worked on a pipeline project. When they returned to Central City, Marcella worked at several restaurants including Coach’s Corner in Polk. After retiring, Marcella enjoyed volunteering at Long Term Care in Central City and at the Merrick County Fitness Center.
Marcella was a member of the Merrickettes Extension Club, the Tops Club, and she enjoyed bingo, fishing, collecting recipes, baking and her pets.
Survivors include her children, Kay Dettman of Central City, Kathy (Dan) Oppliger of Silver Creek, Martha (Alvin) Burkhardt of Central City; Larry Dettman of Aurora; Jerry (Patti) Dettman of Giltner; and Ronald (Jaci) Dettman of Central City; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Eriksen of Marquette, Shirley Miller of Norfolk, and Lucille Egan of West Jordan, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lyle Dettman and Milo Burch; infant daughter, Margaret D.; granddaughter, Brandy Dettman; daughter-in-law, Mary Dettman; and her brothers-in-law.
