Roger A. Gartner - February 03, 2011

Roger A. Gartner, 73, of Hastings, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011 at his home.
Private family services and burial will be held at a later date in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating.
Memorials are directed to Crossroads Center Rescue Mission. Condolences may be sent to www.lbvfh.com. Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
Roger was born Nov. 3, 1937 in Roseland to Charles and Sylvia (Wehnes) Gartner. He graduated form roseland High School and then attended Central Community College in Hastings where he received his state and federal certification as a welder.
On Sept. 13, 1955 he entered the U.S. Army and was with the 101st Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged on April 1, 1958.
On April 14, 1963 he married Donna K. Fox. He worked for K-N Gas. he was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Eagles Aerie #592. He loved his family and enjoyed working with his hands and tools.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Gartner of Hastings; one son, Russell E. Gartner of Stonewood, W.V.; two daughters, Cynthia L. Williams of Lincoln and Kathy (Gary) Wathen of Hastings; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; his mother, Sylvia Gartner of Aurora; one sister, Charlene Coon of Aurora; one brother, William (Karen) Gartner of Gretna; many nieces and nephews.
