Russel Troester - January 29, 2011Russel Troester, 82, of Hampton, died Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the Hamilton Manor.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 2 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev.Loren Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery south of Hampton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.

Russel Wayne Troester, son of Samuel George and Lena Matilda (Troester) Troester, was born in Hampton on September 29, 1928.
He grew up in Hamilton County and attended District 80 and Salem Lutheran School. He then attended public schools at Charles City and Lattimar, Iowa. Russel graduated from Aurora High School in 1946.
Russel was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Hoffman on March 8, 1951. Following their marriage they farmed near Hampton until his retirement in 1991 when they moved into Hampton.
Russel was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton where he served as an elder and trustee and several other capacities. He was also a member of the Lutheran Hour Ministries. Russel served on the Hampton Public School Board for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Rolland Troester and brother-in-law, Lowell Schrader.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Hampton; three sons, Mark (Cathy) Troester of Gassville, Ark., Rev. Jerome Troester of Mitchell, S.D. and Kurt (Nancy) Troester of Hampton; two daughters, Gwen Troester of Lincoln and Lori (John) Losser of Salt Lake City, Utah; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Christian) Green, Heather (Edward) McRae, Rev. Russel (Kristine) Troester, Austin Troester, Zach Troester, Katrina Troester, Adam Losser and Emily Losser, and three great-grandchildren, Rome, Jack and Sam Troester; sisters, Phyllis Schrader and Paulette (Steve) Craig; sister-in-law Leona Troester and many other family members and friends.
