Dolores M. Sagehorn - January 19, 2011

Dolores M. Sagehorn, 86, of Polk, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk with Pastor Kurt Letcher officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.
Dolores was born on March 13, 1924 in Polk to Carl A. and Lydia C. (Blase) Wilshusen. She became a child of God through Holy Baptism on March 30, 1924 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Polk, by Rev. William Butze. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Church School through the eighth grade and was confirmed at Immanuel on April 10, 1938 by Rev. Carl F. Juergensen. Her memory verse was Psalms 111: 10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: His praise endureth forever.” Dolores attended Polk High School and graduated in 1942.
Her first job, after graduation, was working at the Sundberg restaurant in Polk. After that she was employed at the Polk County Courthouse in Osceola.
She married Raymond P. “Dick” Sagehorn on Sept. 30, 1945 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Polk. They lived on the Wilshusen family farm and were blessed with two children, Gary Raymond and Cheryl Ann. Raymond and Dolores moved in to Polk in September of 1976 when son Gary and his wife Carol moved to the farm. Raymond died on Dec. 28, 2007.
Dolores was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Ladies Aid for many years. She was a member of the Polk Womans Club and of the neighborhood birthday club. She enjoyed needlework and painting.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl (Roger) Morris of York, ; a daughter-in-law, Carol Sagehorn of Grand Island; six grandchildren, Sandra (Colby) Elliott of Aurora, Colo.; Gerry Sagehorn of Omaha; Ginger (Dan) Sloup of Wahoo; Dana (Jody) Morris of Omaha; Cory (Angela) Morris of North Platte; and Cindy Morris of Lincoln; and 15 great-grandchildren, Helena, Georgia, and Jacob Elliott, Ashley and Craityn Sagehorn, Shelby and Hayden Griego and Tasha and Cody Sloup, Bergan and Kayle Morris, and Zachary, Gabriel, Ava and Isabella Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Raymond; two brothers, Clarence Wilshusen, and Elmer Wilshusen; two sisters, Florence Light, and Irene Driewer; and her beloved son, Gary Raymond Sagehorn.
