Mavis Wyatt - December 26, 2010Mavis Wyatt, age 77, of Aurora, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Father Dennis Hunt and Father Mark Maresh will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mavis Jean Wyatt, the daughter of Leslie G. and Rena E. (Rasher) Taylor, was born in Abilene, Kan., on Feb. 18, 1933.
She grew up in Salina, Kan., until the fourth grade. Her family moved to Topeka, Kan., where Mavis graduated from Seaman High School. She worked at Kaw Valley State Bank until her marriage.
Mavis was married to Glenn (Tom) Wyatt on Feb. 17, 1951 at Topeka. They lived in Delia, Kan., until 1974, before moving to Aurora. Mavis stayed home to raise their children. She began working as a certified nursing assistant at Hamilton Manor. In 1981, Mavis went to school to become an L.P.N. After graduation she continued working at Hamilton Manor until 1995, when, they moved to Henderson, N.C. for two years. Upon returning to Aurora in 1997, Mavis worked at Hamilton Manor as a L.P.N. until she retired in 2003.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, two brothers and two great-grandsons.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn (Tom) Wyatt of Aurora; four children, Debra (Larry) McKinnon of Dallas, Ga., Tom Wyatt of Grand Island, Chris Wyatt of Obion, Tenn., and Michelle Perry of Stanton; seven grandchildren, Earl McKinnon, Mark McKinnon and Sara Mckinnon of Dallas Ga., Tera Wyatt of Aurora, Brock Wyatt of Waverly, Tyler Perry of Aurora and Whitney Perry of Lincoln; six great-grandchildren, brother, John Taylor and sister, Maxine Kennedy both of Wichita, Kan.
