Shirley M. Kreutz Bennett, 86, of Lincoln, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.
Graveside memorial services will be held at the Harvard Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are directed to St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 2325 S. 24th St., Lincoln, NE 68502.
She was born Sept. 3, 1923 in Harvard to Rolland and Mamie (Wilson) Kreutz. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1941, earned a B.A. from the University of Washington, Seattle, plus an M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University, N.Y. She was a retired professor of education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
She was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church and the American Assoc. of University Women.
Survivors of the immediate family include husband Millard Bennett, Lincoln; a brother-in-law George (Betty) Crowther, Palmer, Alaska; sister-in-law Judy (Phillip) Kreutz, Giltner; five nephews and two nieces. five step-children; Stuart (Sally) Bennett; David (Wanda) Bennett; Joan Bennett; Nancy (Larry) Brockway, all of Upstate New York; Marcia (George Rieck) Guffey, Ankeny, Iowa; five step-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Roger Kreutz and Phillip Kreutz; two sisters Betty (Kreutz) Crowther, Barbara Kreutz.; sister-in-law Marilyn (Roger) Kreutz.
