Kathryn Harvey Omel - December 06, 2009

Kathryn “Katie” Harvey Omel, 66, of Polk City, Fla., wife of former Giltner resident Gary Omel, died Dec. 6, 2009 at her home with her husband at her side after a long battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
Katie was born Sept. 24, 1943, in Wellington, New Zealand, to Rollo S. and Elizabeth Taylor Harvey. She grew up in the North Platte area where she graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1962.
She was a homemaker with many talents. She loved animals and was never without a dog and a cat.
She and her husband, Gary Omel, moved to Readyville, Tenn., in 1995. They traveled in their motor home, making many friends along the way.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Polk City. She was a very giving lady and will be missed by all.
Survivors include her husband Gary Omel (originally from Giltner); daughter, JoyLyn (Mike) Smith of Hayes, Kan.; her sons, Robert (Joanne) Williams of North Platte, Dwayne (Nancy) Williams of Franklin, Bill (Rose) Williams of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-daughter, Debra Cripe (Steve) of Lincoln; stepson, Kevin Omel (Karen) of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Rick (Shari) Harvey of North Platte, Randy (Deborah) Harvey of Lewellyn; and nine grandchildren.
