Shirley Jensen - November 16, 2009

Shirley Jensen, 75, of Phillips, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at her home.

Shirley Janet Jensen, daughter of Paul and Mildred (Norris) Thomasson, was born in Ferndale, Md. on Jan. 28, 19345.
She grew up in Baltimore. When she was 13, her family moved to Ferndale, Md. She attended Ferndale Elementary School and Glen Bernie High School through the eighth grade. She worked at the Maryland Department of Health until 1953.
She married Darwin Lavern Jensen on Sept. 19, 1953. They had met in Ferndale, while Darwin was in the service. They moved to Greenville after he was discharged from the service. After moving back to Ferndale in 1959, she worked for Westinghouse in Baltimore from 1959-1967. She moved to Rochester, Mich. in 1967 and went to work for General Motors in 1968, retiring in 1991.
She enjoyed traveling, crocheting and being with family and friends. She made baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The last blanket was for her son, Ray.
She is survived by her two sons, Gary L. Jensen and June Kiser of Phillips; Raymond B. (Brenda) Jensen of Greenville, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Carol) Thomasson of Lady Lake, Fla. and Robert (Deb) Thomasson of Hud Lock, Md.; sister, Laraine Gattuso of Baltimore and sisters-in-law, cousins and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sons, Charles Darwin and Randy Lee Jensen and brother-in-law, Dean Jensen.
