Cleo Slawinski - October 17, 2009

Cleo A. Slawinski, 92, formerly of Grand Island, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009 at Abundant Life Christian Center with Pastor Stephen Warriner officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Kleine Funeral Home.
She was born May 29, 1917 at Maywood, the daughter of Ira and Icel (Spencer) Burton. She was raised and educated in Maywood.
She married Vernon Wachholtz on Feb. 2, 1934 in Stockville. She married Anton Sorensen on April 4, 1939 in North Platte and married Roman Slawinski on Aug. 17, 1974 in Grand Island.
She was a homemaker and farmed many years at Dannebrog, Nysted, Farwell, and later moved the Wolbach. She moved to Grand Island in 1957 and worked at a food shop and Pete’s Grill. Later she lived on a farm in the Worms and St. Libory area. After Roman’s death, she moved back to Grand Island.
She is survived by son Gary Sorenson of Arvada, Colo.; daughter Charlene “Lee” Guerrero-Kirkman of Grand Island, and daughter Judy Proctor of Aurora; 16 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Allen Wachholtz, four brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
