Jim Frear - September 06, 2009

Former Aurora area resident Jim A. Frear, 75, of Grand Island, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Service were Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Burial was in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Jim A. Frear was born May 2, 1934 at Furnas County, the son of Ray and Verna (Bose) Frear.
He was raised on the family farm in Furnas County and graduated from Oxford High School. He married Shirley Strickland on Aug. 2, 1953. He managed his fathers business, Oxford Lumberyard for seven years, and then farmed for three years before moving to the Grand Island area where he worked for New Holland. He worked for New Holland for 25 years retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Platt-Duetsche for many years. He enjoyed playing sheepshead with his card buddies. He also enjoyed Husker football, carpentry and cat fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; daughters, Janet Frear of Grand Island and Pamela (Edgar) Frear-Otalora of Germany; sons, Steve Frear of Grand Island, Roger (Jackie) Frear of Savannah, Mo., Kenneth (Nancy) Frear of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Rod (Trina) Frear of Malmo; brother, Jack Frear of Oxford and sister, Alta Miller of Ogallala; nine grandchildren.
His parents and brother, Bob Frear, preceded him in death.
Memorials are suggested to the local ‘Grace’ Grand Island Area Cancer Endowment fund.
