Agnes Hayes - September 01, 2009

Former Marquette resident Agnes Hayes, 82, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Grand Island.

Agnes LaVaughn Hayes, the daughter of James Albert and Eliza Ann (Salisbury) Barger, was born in Tekamah on April 5, 1927. She grew up in Tekamah and attended school through the 10th grade.
She married Arlo E. Hayes on Jan. 21, 1947 at Belleville, Kan. They farmed in the Marquette area. They lived in the Marquette area until they moved to Grand Island in January 1999. Her husband died on June 23, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers, Jim and Harvey Barger and four sisters, Mabel Quick, Louise Hayes, Odile Smith and Florence Ball.
Survivors include her four children, Helen (Ron) Foulk of Central City, Ronald (Diana) Hayes of Hastings, Clara Hardy of Aurora and Shirley (Greg) Stevenson of Grand Island; 14 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
