Lisa Wadell Smith - June 04, 2014Lisa Wadell Smith, 39, of Gretna, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 after a two year battle with breast cancer.
Funeral services were held at First Covenant Church, 201 N. 90th Street, in Omaha, on Friday, June 6. Viewing was from 3-5 p.m. The funeral was at 5 p.m. with a lunch afterward. Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak & Cutler handled these arrangements.
Private family burial was in the Aurora Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, followed by a Memorial Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 1009 1st Street, Aurora. Lisa J. Wadell Smith was born on Sept. 12, 1974. She was raised in Aurora, by Delmer and Lorey Wadell. Lisa graduated from Aurora High School and went on to receive a Communications degree from North Park University in Chicago IL.
Lisa met her husband Jason Smith while working at Mutual of Omaha. They were married in November 2002, and in January 2007 their son Dylan was born. In June 2012 Lisa’s nephew and niece, Zach and Caliegh Wadell, joined their family.
Lisa was passionate and gifted in many areas. She loved music and played the oboe in high school and college. She worked in public relations for Omaha Public Schools and Mutual of Omaha. She was very involved in her church, Community Covenant Church, volunteering and serving on many committees as well as serving on the Covenant Midwest Conference board.
Lisa is survived by her husband Jason Smith, son Dylan, niece Caleigh Wadell, nephew Zach Wadell, her parents Delmer and Lorey Wadell, brother Brent Wadell, and many extended family that have loved her dearly.
