Virginia Ginny Holmes - May 30, 2014

Virginia ‘Ginny’ Holmes, age 81, of Aurora, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Hamilton Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 4 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Michael Patzloff will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at
Virginia Lee Holmes, the daughter of Ben and Altha (Sexton) Titman, was born in Hamilton County on March 25, 1933 and passed away in Aurora, on May 30, 2014, at the age of 81.
Ginny grew up in Hamilton County and graduated from Aurora High School.
Ginny was united in marriage to Thomas Dean Holmes on Nov. 23, 1952. They lived in Hampton where Ginny stayed at home to raise their two children: Carla and Tim. Ginny went to work for Merle Norman in Aurora and then Grand Island. In 1987, they moved to Aurora. Later on Ginny went to work at Honeysuckle Lane for several years. Thomas passed away on Nov. 24, 2002.
Ginny volunteered with the Girl Scouts. She attended both of her children activities and sporting events. Ginny also attended as many of her grandchildren’s activities and events as she could. Ginny enjoyed playing bridge. She was well known for her baking and cooking for all family gatherings. She was a member of the Hampton Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; four brothers, Bernie, Raymond, Leonard and Kenneth Titman and two sisters, Dorothy Tindall and Betty Green.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Carla (Mike) Richardson of Greenfield, Ind. and Tim (Michele) Holmes of Grand Island; 4 grandchildren, Brock (Jordana) Hoegh of Marietta, Ga., Trevor (Sarah) Hoegh of Omaha, Tara Hoegh and fiancé Jerry Cunningham of Edmonton, Canada and Chelsea Holmes and boyfriend Tyler Rogers of Grand Island; 6 great-grandchildren, Nyah, Kinley, Shayden, Briggs, Aniston and Mabry; extended family in Indiana, Jimmy and Nicki Privett, Travis and Shon Keesling and Gavin, Evan, Rylan and Brinley. Ginny also will be missed by other family members and close friends.
