Elaine E. Arie - July 26, 2009Elaine E. Arie, 82, of Central City, mother of Hordville resident Mary Kay Arie, died Sunday July 26, 2009 at the Central City Care Center.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Sinai Lutheran Church, Fremont, with the Rev. Michael Ostrom officiating. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Sinai Lutheran Church and the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont will be on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Thursday for an hour before the service.
She was born Oct. 16, 1926 in Swaburg to George P, and Clara (Tunberg) Johnson. She grew up in the Hooper/Swaburg area, and graduated from Fremont High School in 1945.
On Feb. 12, 1950, she married Richard G. Arie in Fremont. Fremont was their home all their married years. Her husband was a railroader and she worked for Woolworth’s 5 & 10 in downtown Fremont for a number of years, before working briefly for Pendleton, then returning to Woolworth’s until retiring.
She was a member of Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 20 in Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in December of 1996, also by an infant son, six brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Kay Arie of Hordville; one son, Lloyd Arie of Fremont; three sisters-in-law, Betty Kennec, Roberta Johnson and Cleda Wright
