Sharren Hatfield Behrends - April 12, 2014

Sharren Hatfield Behrends, age 66, formerly of Giltner, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the Hearthstone in York.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 17 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Rev. Jim Garfield will officiate. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Sharren L. Hatfield Behrends, the daughter of Frank and Edna Marie (Waite) Cohagen, was born at Stromsburg on Sept. 22, 1947 and passed away in York on April 12, 2014 at the age of 66.
Sharren grew up in Polk and attended school through the 9th grade. She was united in marriage to Chester Hatfield on March 22, 1972. They had five children. Sharren worked many jobs in the food service business while raising their family. They moved to Colorado for several years before returning to Polk. After a short time the family moved to Missouri and Colorado before moving to Bradshaw in 1985. Six years later Sharren moved to Giltner where she resided for the last 23 years. When in Giltner, Sharren owned her own business and sold AVON.
Sharren was married to Gary Behrends on Aug. 23, 2008 at Wood River. Gary passed away on Nov. 20, 2009. In late 2013, Sharren’s health failed and she moved to be closer to her children.
Sharren enjoyed camping, fishing, yard work, family get togethers, reading romance novels, listening to music, dancing and getting together with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary and brother, Jerry Cohagen.
Those left to cherish her memory are her five children, Eldon Johnson of York, Christi (Bill) Payne of York, Lori (Tony) Lovell of Wymore, Amber (Frank) Finan of Fairmont and Jeanette (Danny) Miller of Doniphan; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Duebel of Colorado and two step-daughters, Michelle (Tim) Dedrick of Hastings and Christine (Kelly) Luedtke of Grand Island.
