Two felony charges have been filed in York County in connection with a Nov. 2 fatal accident.

Otis Newcomb, 37, of York, was charged with aggravated motor vehicle homicide, a Class II felony, and unintentional killing by an unlawful act, a Class III felony, according to the York News-Times.

It was reported that toxicology results showed Newcomb’s blood-alcohol level was 0.113, above the Nebraska legal limit of .08.

Efforts to reach York County Attorney Candace Dick prior to press time were unsuccessful.

Newcomb was driving a 2007 Ford van that collided with a 2003 Chevy 2KH driven by Michael Krejci, 38, of Aurora, shortly after 1 a.m. Nov. 2. Lauren Akerson of Aurora, a passenger in the vehicle driven by Krejci, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Newcomb is currently held at the York County Jail, according to the News-Times. His bond has been set at 10 percent of $300,000.

A court hearing was set for this afternoon (Wednesday).
If convicted, Newcomb may face from one to 50 years in prison for the aggravated motor vehicle homicide and from one to 20 years for the unintential killing by an unlawful act charge.
