City budget workshop PDF E-mail

The majority of the Aurora City Council meeting on Tuesday night will be used as a budget work session in preparation for the new fiscal year. City administrator Marlan Ferguson has proposed that the city’s property tax levy remain the same at 0.324 cents per $100 of taxable valuation. Council members have the flexibility to decrease it to 0.307018, but Ferguson said he recommends against that because the extra funds could go toward paying for the aquatic center currently under construction.
Total general fund expenditures are proposed at $2,114,127.84.
“It has been a challenging budget process as many projects are ongoing and new philosophies are in place within the administration and city council,” Ferguson said.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and is open to the public.
