Aurora to host 80 youth teams PDF E-mail

A total of 80 youth basketball teams will be in Aurora over a span of two Sundays for the annual Aurora Youth Basketball Tournament.

Tournament director Scott Werner said this year’s event, normally held on a Saturday and Sunday, was moved to consecutive Sundays this year. The girls tournament is Sunday, while the boys hit the floor Jan. 27.

This year, teams from as far away as Omaha, Norfolk and Lexington will compete in tournament games held at the Bremer Community Center to take advantage of the facility’s new hardwood surface and bleachers. That frees up the old high school gym to have one game rather than two playing simultaneously. Action also will take place at the Penner Athletic Courts and both Aurora Public Schools gyms.
