To Helen Jacobsen’s way of thinking, there’s absolutely nothing unusual about an 83-year-old woman holding down a job.
It’s perfectly normal to her, because it’s been her way of life for as long as she can remember.

"Working is all I’ve ever known. I don’t know anything but work and I enjoy working," she said at the end of her shift in the dietary department at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. "I’ve gotten into reading after I got a Nook for Christmas. But I feel guilty sitting still for three or four hours reading, because I know I haven’t accomplished anything."
