Concerns continue on nitrate levels PDF E-mail

High nitrates have long been a concern with water quality, and the issue is not going away in the Upper Big Blue NRD area.

Rod DeBuhr, water department manager for the district, said at the recent CROP-TIP field day that he has seen a gradual upward spike.

"There are some concerns in Hamilton County, where we have seen a steady increase in nitrates from years and years of fertilizer use and irrigation use," he said. "But we have concerns with high nitrates throughout our district."
