The Aurora Cooperative posted record sales in the fiscal year ending Aug. 31, due in large part to what president and CEO George Hohwieler said was a combination of strategic moves that allowed the company to expand its reach while maximizing its profits.

The Aurora-based company reported sales and related income totaling $1.1 billion for fiscal year 2012 and total earnings of approximately $29 million. That’s up from $882 million in total sales last year, which was a record at the time.
