Digital citizenship: The right way to use technology PDF E-mail

To Craig Badura’s way of thinking, putting technology into the hands of young students without teaching them the right way to use it makes as much sense as putting 14-year-olds behind the wheel of a car and telling them to go learn how to drive without any guidance.
That’s why the Aurora schools’ technology integration specialist initiated digital citizenship classes at the elementary and middle school as a way to reinforce the positives and warn of potential negatives that come with placing iPads in their hands.
Using short segments of time in the elementary school and 16-minute TNT (Time ‘n Togetherness) periods in the middle school, Badura squeezes digital “sweet and short” commonsense information tidbits into the curriculum each week. See this week's edition for a "Tech Talk" feature article.
