|Evans seeing signs of true growth|
A spurt of economic development activity during the past year has focused primarily on expansion of local businesses, though there are signs that outside companies are looking to invest in the community, the executive director of the Aurora Area Chamber & Development reported last week.
"The adage is that 75 percent of economic development happens with existing businesses expanding and we’ve certainly seen that," Christian Evans said during the AACD’s annual meeting. "We’re chasing a couple new lines of business now as well."
Citing recent expansions by Casey’s, Hamilton Sales & Equipment and T.O. Haas, for example, Evans reported that there was $4.8 million in new property valuation growth during the last year, and $4 million of that was within the city of Aurora. See this week's News-Register for a complete report.
