You don’t have to be hearing-impaired to have trouble hearing in a classroom.

If you’re sitting in the back of the class, street noise, hallway noise, a rustling of paper or a cough can lead to cognitive overload -- making it difficult to concentrate and understand what the teacher is saying.

Teachers have battled the problem for decades, often raising their voices to the point of shouting in order to make themselves heard at the back of the room.

Not anymore... at least in Aurora.
