Benefit planned for Mowery PDF E-mail

A benefit fund has been established for Ethan Mowery, a second grader at Aurora Elementary School, who soon will be starting a transplant procedure.
Mowery has dyskeratosis congenita, a condition which causes his bone marrow to destroy itself, and is in need of a bone marrow transplant.
The Aurora youngster will be admitted to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City on Friday to begin the transplant procedure, with the first step being chemotherapy and radiation to destroy any remaining bone marrow.
The transplant is scheduled to begin Nov. 20, and is expected to last 100 days due to the cord blood being immature and needing a slow infusion.
A fundraiser has been planned for Nov. 17 at the Edgerton Explorit Center, when a benefit meal and silent auction will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. Those attending will also be admitted to the Explorit Zone for $1 during that time.
