Two area 8-man teams were in action Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. Giltner raced its way into the Class D2 semifinals with an impressive 66-22 win over Medicine Valley. The Hornets rolled up 504 yards of offense while holding the visiting Raiders to just 75 in the first half as Giltner led 50-6 going into the locker room. They travel to Shelton on Monday to face the Bulldogs, with the winner advancing to the state finals Nov. 19 in Memorial Stadium. High Plains closed its season in the Class D1 quarterfinals with a 58-24 loss at undefeated Exeter-Milligan. The host Timberwolves got off to a big lead, holding a 24-0 advantage after one quarter and a 44-6 lead at halftime.
