When Aurora school administrators and technology specialists began discussing which direction to go with a 1-to-1 initiative, it came down to a debate between laptops and iPads.
The discussion centered on keyboards versus touch pads, security versus responsibility, old school versus new school.
The iPad eventually won out, but it took some time and a few visits to schools with established 1-to-1 initiatives before everyone was onboard with the decision.

This week's Tech Talk series in the News-Register explores that decision, and also takes a look at the new 1-to-1 initiative in Hampton, where students in grades 7-12 began using MacBook Pros this fall. The series also includes input from High Plains, where students have each had a school-assigned computer for the past four years.
