Aurora’s own Andrew Rodriguez was right in the middle of the action Saturday as the Huskers came back to defeat Wisconsin 30-27 in an emotional Big Ten opener.

Playing most of the game at right guard, Rodriguez said he felt good about the Huskers’ offensive line play.

"We came out a little rusty, but we got better as the game went on," he said. "We’re working hard to keep our tempo up and executing on every play. I think I won and lost some of my individual battles. It’s football, so I’m not going to have a perfect game, but it turned out good."

Having battled injury for much of his sophomore season, Rodriguez said he’s holding up well so far in 2012.

"I feel like I’m in high school," he said with a grin. "My body feels good."

As for the alternative uniforms, Rodriguez said he didn’t get too caught up in the hype.

"They are alright, but I guess I’m just more traditional," he said.
