Hampton School Board lowers levy, boosts building fund PDF E-mail

The Hampton School Board approved its 2012-13 budget Monday noting a 10 percent drop in the general fund tax levy.

"The valuation increase obviously is the key reason it went down," explained Supt. Holly Herzberg. "The general fund levy went down 11 cents, so that’s pretty significant."

The general fund levy approved Monday means local patrons will be assessed .909770 per $100 of property valuation. That is down from last year’s levy of 1.010990.

Herzberg noted that though the general fund tax asking total is down, more money will be earmarked this year in the district’s special building fund. That line item was listed at $151,515 last year and was increased to $252,424 for the coming year. The total property tax request for 2012-13 is $2,110,996, up from $2,054,888.
