I-80 bridge project slows traffic to 1 lane PDF E-mail

Construction at Aurora’s I-80 interchange is causing a “minor inconvenience” for motorists, though businesses in the area say it is having little effect on their bottom lines thus far.
The Nebraska Department of Roads is now in the midst of repairing the existing Highway 14 bridge surface over the interstate and will eventually put on a new concrete overlay and replace the pavement approaches. The $298,000 project will include some repair work on the columns supporting the bridge as well.
“There hasn’t been much effect, yet,” reported Mark Perez, general manager of Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores. “Even when it first started (June 13) our numbers were still going up. After the holiday it might slow down, so here in the next couple of weeks we’ll be able to tell more.”
