There was birthday cake for everyone last week at the Aurora Child Care Center.

And while children at the new community-based facility are often recognized on their birthday, Oct. 26 was the one-year celebration for the center itself.

"It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already," said manager Lisa Kluck. "It’s gone fast, but I would say things have turned out the way I envisioned them turning out. It’s been a great first year."

Aurora Child Care, Inc., opened its doors on Oct. 26, 2009 with six full-time employees and 33 children enrolled. Today, there are 69 youngsters enrolled, with care provided by 10 full-time and five part-time employees.

"It’s all been by word of mouth," Kluck said of the first-year growth. "Parents networking with each other has helped get the word out, so that’s definitely encouraging."
