The subject matter hasn’t changed from first to second semester in the Aurora schools, but boy have things changed when it comes to teaching and learning.

Technology is what’s driving both ends of that spectrum these days -- thanks to a 1-to-1 iPad initiative approved by school board members last year that put 850 of the devices in the hands of all students and teachers in grades 6-12 and equipped seven mobile carts in the elementary school.

For the fourth year in a row, the Giltner Area Development Corporation found the right recipe for a successful chili cookoff.

A total of 17 competitors brought roasters full of chili and roughly 250 attended the annual event Sunday at the Giltner Community Center.
