Aurora track and field fans broke out their winter coats, gloves, stocking caps and blankets to cheer on the Huskies at the Central Conference meet Saturday at Doane College in Crete. Wintery temperatures, brisk winds and a steady mist made for miserable weather conditions for all athletes. Much nicer weather is predicted for Thursday’s District B5 meet at Lexington.

Legendary Husker football coach and former congressman Tom Osborne observed Thursday in Aurora that today’s society puts too much emphasis on physical strength and intellect, and not nearly enough on the spiritual dimension, which in his view is critical to long-term success and happiness.

Aurora junior Luke Grossnicklaus won medalist honors at the Central Conference meet in York Friday, carding an impressive round of 77 on a cold, windy day for golf.
