State bound PDF E-mail

The Huskies emerged from the B5 District Track Meet with several state qualifiers, including Colton Allen who placed sixth in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles, but qualified anyway based on time. Athletes in all six places in the event are headed to the state meet at Omaha Burke May 17-18. Also qualifying were Abby Collingham in the pole vault; the 3200 meter relay team of Allison Penner, Emily Braun, Maggie Grosshans and Ashley Caudill; Ben McQuiston in both the high jump and 800 meter run and Taylor Thiele in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdle races. Multiple athletes from Giltner, Hampton and High Plains also will make the trip to state.

Giltner and Hampton combined for 16 state qualifiers at the D-5 District track meet Wednesday in Kenesaw, with Aurora competing at Thursday's B-5 meet in Lexington. For more, see next week's print or e-editions.

 
An emotional farewell PDF E-mail

Giltner High School bid farewell to 18 seniors during commencement exercises Sunday afternoon in the new gym.

“This is a class you can be proud of,” Supt. Larry Lambert said. “These members will be remembered for numerous successes in activities they participated in through the Nebraska School Activities Association and also their academics.”
