Mystery Skype empowers students to learn PDF E-mail

Nineteen elementary students on the east coast and 25 elementary students in the Midwest played hide and seek together last week in what is fast becoming a popular educational game of Mystery Skype.

 

 

 
Playoff bound PDF E-mail

Aurora won another district title Friday, coming from behind against a playoff-hungry York team to win 41-28 on the road. The 7-2 Huskies will host 6-3 Grand Island Northwest Friday in the first round of the Class B playoffs, as announced this weekend by the Nebraska School Activities Association.

Giltner and High Plains also qualified for the football playoffs. The No. 1-seed Hornets, coming into the postseason a perfect 8-0, will host 4-4 Hay Springs on Thursday, while the 7-1 Storm will host 5-3 Bloomfield.

 
Technology in the classroom PDF E-mail

When Aurora school administrators and technology specialists began discussing which direction to go with a 1-to-1 initiative, it came down to a debate between laptops and iPads.
The discussion centered on keyboards versus touch pads, security versus responsibility, old school versus new school.
The iPad eventually won out, but it took some time and a few visits to schools with established 1-to-1 initiatives before everyone was onboard with the decision.
