Senior housing proposed PDF E-mail

Preliminary plans were unveiled this week for a 14-unit senior housing project, which could be the first development in the 117-acre Matson property purchased last year by two local foundations.
Matt Thomas, president of the California-based Dana Point Development Corp., explained his vision in a brief public meeting Jan. 8 at the Bremer Center.

Representatives with the Frank M. and Alice Farr Trust and the Wortman Family Charitable Trust announced in April their combined purchase of a 117-acre parcel bordered by 1st Street and Highway 34. The land was sold by Mosaic, a social ministry organization which owns and operates Bethpage Village in Axtell. It had previously been owned by Delmar and Alice Matson, and is often referred to locally as the Matson property.

Auditorium project nears completion in Hampton PDF E-mail

Hampton village leaders were making plans Monday to finish renovation of the community auditorium, and also started a conversation about the possible need to replace an aging city hall.

Considerable work has already been done on the auditorium renovation, and village chairman Dane Schafer said he hopes the project can be completed by June, in time for the annual Booster Days celebration.
