Two-way teaching PDF E-mail

Learning was a two-way street at the Senior Center in Aurora Nov. 19.
Senior citizens were learning the ins and outs of iPad technology, thanks to some hands-on demonstrations by local third graders. The elementary students, in turn, were getting some subtle, old-school vocabulary lessons and genuine tips on listening and communicating from a generation that knows how to talk to people face to face. See this week's print or e-editions for a complete story.

‘We did it!’ PDF E-mail

A goal that’s long been square in the Giltner football bulls-eye was finally realized Monday.

The program earned its second NSAA state championship in school history with a convincing 42-26 victory against perennial power Humphrey St. Francis in the Class D2 state championship game.

It was a storybook ending for the Hornets, which used its trademark spread offense to rack up nearly 400 yards passing. Coupled with a defense which allowed only eight first-half points, it led to a euphoric celebration among players coaches and fans, perhaps best summed up by senior lineman Dillon Gartner proclaiming "We did it!" See this week's edition for a complete report, as well as a two-page spread of photos and congratulations from area businesses.
