Relay for Life PDF E-mail

"I am Hope!"

The message was everywhere Friday night during the 2012 Hamilton County Relay for Life. Cancer survivors proudly wore the message on the back of their shirts as they walked down sidewalks lined with lumnaria in their honor.

The theme was carried out in the personal messages shared during the night as teams of walkers weaved through Central Park Square during their 12 hour vigil.

Hope was what this year’s Relay was all about -- hope for more survivors every year, hope for the future, hope for a cure.

Strong start for seniors PDF E-mail

The Aurora Legion Seniors came back from a one-run deficit for a 6-5 win and followed with a 13-4 triumph for a doubleheader sweep Thursday night at St. Paul.

Jordan Hohwieler struck out five and gave up just one hit in the final three innings to earn the win in the opener, while Brett Quick scored the winning run on a pinch-hit single by Marcus Todd. In the nightcap, Aurora posted seven runs in the seventh inning to pull away.

The wins gave the Big Red a 3-0 record going into Tuesday's home opener against Broken Bow, scheduled for 8 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
