Jason Parks to receive 'citizen hero' award PDF E-mail

A former Aurora resident and a couple from Clinton, Iowa will represent their respective states as "citizen heroes" when the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers meet the University of Iowa Hawkeyes Friday in the second-annual Heroes Game presented. Jason Parks of Omaha, son of Paul and Bobby Parks of Aurora, will be recognized during a halftime ceremony on the field. Watch next week's edition for a complete report.

Husker Nation tipped its hat to legendary coach Tom Osborne Saturday, thanking him for more than 40 years of service. The sellout crowd exploded when Osborne joined coach Bo Pelini for an emotional tunnel walk, then jogged out on the field one last time with the Huskers. Hornets hit the turf PDF E-mail

The Giltner Hornets altered their regular football practice schedule Friday, heading to Aurora to practice on the Huskies new turf field in preparation for their Class D2 championship game in Memorial Stadium in Lincoln Monday morning.

The Hornets' 60-20 win over Shelton in the semi-finals punched Giltner’s ticket to Memorial Stadium for a championship brawl with fellow unbeaten Humphrey St. Francis. Game time is 10:15 a.m.
