Eastman to write Giltner column PDF E-mail

Meet Joan Eastman of Giltner, the News-Register’s newest columnist.
Starting Dec. 18, you’ll find her weekly Giltner-related news column in the Aurora News-Register.
“I think it will be the voice of the town of Giltner,” she said.
Eastman is No. 8 in a family of 12 children of Vern and Eileen. She graduated from Giltner High School in 1986 and has spent all but about 10 years in the town where she grew up.
In fact, seven of her siblings live in Giltner, and two more live elsewhere in Nebraska.
“A lot of us left and then came back,” she said.
For the last five years, Eastman has been village clerk, where she takes care of the financial duties of the town.
“Making sure everything is running smoothly,” she said.
While she won’t be writing about the action of the village board and other related news, she would like to know about everything else. She can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 402-631-9072. She asks that everyone let her know about news by Friday afternoon.
