To Helen Jacobsen’s way of thinking, there’s absolutely nothing unusual about an 83-year-old woman holding down a job.
It’s perfectly normal to her, because it’s been her way of life for as long as she can remember.

"Working is all I’ve ever known. I don’t know anything but work and I enjoy working," she said at the end of her shift in the dietary department at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. "I’ve gotten into reading after I got a Nook for Christmas. But I feel guilty sitting still for three or four hours reading, because I know I haven’t accomplished anything."

The invasion will arrive Saturday in Aurora -- 24 robots, 100 competitors and 102 bean bags.

Bean bags?

Yes, bean bags. And it’s all part of an ingenious competition spurred by technology and teamwork with advancement opportunities to the national and world levels of competition in robotics. The competition runs from 8 a.m. to 5  p.m. Saturday and is open to the public at no charge.
