Norene Wiarda, age 72, of Hampton, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 27th at Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Bob Gannon will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Norene Cozette Wiarda, the daughter of Russell and Irene (Korth) LaRue, was born at Hampton, Iowa on May 3, 1942 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on August 22, 2014 at the age of 72.
Norene grew up in Franklin County, Iowa and graduated from Franklin Consolidated High School. She then attended Mason City Junior College for one year.
Norene was united in marriage to Marlin Wiarda on March 15, 1961 at Mason City, Iowa. Following their marriage she helped on the farm in Franklin County, Iowa. In 1976 the family moved to Nebraska. For 18 years she worked for a seed company during harvest time.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She was an Elvis Presley fan and even toured Graceland. Her favorite pastime was reading a good book. She also attended the Christian Women’s Club with her daughter-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Marlin Wiarda of Hampton; 5 sons, Scott Wiarda of Aurora, Mark (Karrie) Wiarda of Marquette, Todd Wiarda of Hampton, Mike (Kerry) Wiarda of Aurora and Bill (Kathy) Wiarda of Hampton; 9 grandchildren, Mandi (Travis), Sam, Dillon, Kalyn, Max, Allison, Payton, Cale and Chance Wiarda; great-grandson, Avery Spiker; brothers, James (Wendy) Watt and Steve (Patricia) Watt and step-father, Robert Watt.
