Graduation a milestone for seniors, family and community
Tis the season for marking milestones.
Families across America are pausing this busy spring season to recognize academic achievement well worth every bit of pomp and circumstance it is given.
Giltner kicked off high school graduation season Sunday in Hamilton County, getting an early start on the celebrations as is the Hornet tradition. High Plains and Hampton will follow suit Saturday, and Aurora seniors will turn their tassels May 18, ceremoniously ending their tenure as Huskies.
College graduations across the country will also feature names with local ties, representing an even higher standard of goal setting, study and sacrifice.
It’s an emotional time of transition for area families, whether it’s the oldest child wearing the cap and gown or the youngest leaving an empty nest behind. Whatever the scenario, the feelings of pride, achievement and pure joy for reaching such a significant goal are as genuine as they can be.
This is, after all, one of life’s milestone events, a day our sons, daughters, and grandchildren will look back on with fond memories for years to come. Endless opportunity to pursue their life’s mission lies straight ahead, but that can wait, for another day at least, while friends and family gather to celebrate and enjoy the moment.
